POST AND TELEGRAPH DEPARTMENT
General Post Office, Wellington
28th October 1913
Memorandum from
The Chief Telegraph Engineer, Wellington
To
The Telegraph Engineer, Dunedin
Awarua Wireless Station.
This station will be taken over by the Department on the 7th November.
Please arrange with Mr Lawn to do so. This will enable Mr D Campbell, who is representing the Wireless Coy there, to leave the Station.
Mr Lawn should take a full inventory of all the spare parts being handed over and of all parts that the Department has agreed to take at a price that was to be decided on. The Department has not heard anything [from] either Mr Campbell or the Head Office of the Company, Sydney, as to these prices and it is hoped that no complications will arise on that score. The Department in stating that it would take certain goods reserves to itself the right to reject them if the prices are found not to be reasonable.
The date of opening the station for business is not yet decided upon.
The signature is that of J (Joseph) Orchiston who was Chief Telegraph Engineer at Wellington.
