Raymond Trevor Allsop

born: 22 Sep 1905, Hamilton, NZ
died: 2 Jun 1971, Surfers Paradise, AU

Worked at:

  • Wellington Radio: Technician from approx early 1940s, then Chief Technician
  • Radio Section, Wellington PO. From approx 1956

My dad (Ray Allsop) was the officer in charge of the transmitting station ZLW in Wellington from around 1940? until it was closed down for Himatangi. He was then transferred to a job in the post office building in the city, a job and boss he hated. I was born in January 1940, and well remember walking up the hill to meet him almost every day after school. I have many good memories of those years.
