I was lucky to find Rex Johnson’s article about the Milford Track telephone while reading up before we walked the Milford track – it is fascinating! https://maritimeradio.org/other-stations/milford-sound-radio-zmv/milford-track/

We found the old phone box that is shown in his photo, because the location is on the geocaching website https://coord.info/GC8JT41

But, the hut warden I spoke to didn’t know anything about the linesman’s hut that Rex photographed. She checked the 2017 Milford Track Heritage Assessment report prepared by consultant James Jacob- nothing is mentioned there.

I was wondering whether Rex remembers more details about where the linesman’s hut was located.
Could you pass on my contact email to Rex Johnson? Many thanks, Jane

Hi
enjoyed old pics of ZLB…3 Junior Mechanicians started at ZLB in Dec 1964 they were Dale Spittle, Noel Blair and myself
The pic of the person taking power meter readings in what was called the workshop (Also where the incomming power went into the station) looks to me like Dale Spittle)

The other pics of 2 techs taking meter reading in front of the Phillips Tx trucks looks like Ross Luscombe on the left and snr Tech Boyd Brown on the right hope this helps
